The three talented golfers from Mercedes-Benz South West will be putting their ‘driving’ to the test after qualifying for the MercedesTrophy in the Semi-final at the New Zealand Golf Club, Surrey where they finished in the top four best teams. This came after they won through a qualifying game at Woodbury Golf & Country Club, Exeter and then a further qualifying round at Trevose Golf Club, Padstow. This competition is the world’s largest amateur golf tournament.
Julian Reynolds, David Freeman and David Leverton will enjoy four nights at the famous St Andrews Golf Course where the MercedesTrophy National Final will be held from 10th to 14th September 2014. They will stay at the five-star Old Course Hotel for four nights, they will play a fun team competition on the St Andrews Links New Course, prior to the main 36 hole team and individual competition, taking place over The Castle Course and Kingsbarns Golf Links. The team format will once again be Stableford with the best two scores of the three team members counting at each hole, over the two days.
In the Individual Competition, the leading individual from each of the three handicap categories will qualify to represent the United Kingdom at the MercedesTrophy World Final in 2015. The World Final is a once in a life time experience.
