Meet William Russell.

Mercedes-Benz South West trainee programme
Mercedes-Benz South West offer a number of trainee and apprentice programmes aimed at developing fresh talent within the automotive industry.
William Russell took on the role of Trainee Sales Executive at Mercedes-Benz of Plymouth six months ago and we caught up with him to find out how it is going.
It is lovely to meet you, William. Tell us a bit about yourself!
"In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and spend time with my family. I have always been keen on music and love to play my guitar. I am a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and love listening to his music and going to see him live. This year I saw him in Phoenix Arizona over Easter and in London over the summer. In the winters I love to go skiing in the alps with friends. I also like to make use of where we live; beaches, Dartmoor and the countryside!"
What does your role as a Trainee Sales Executive involve?
"As a trainee I have spent the last six months learning the ropes of the motor trade. Getting to know in depth knowledge about the cars, product and learning the general background of the brand and its heritage. I started by getting to know the sales process by both shadowing my colleagues and working closely with my Business Manager and mentor, Christian Constantine. As Christian started as a Trainee Sales Executive back in 2012, we have established a great working relationship and are working towards me becoming a successful Sales Executive. My first few months were spent working at his side learning the product process and systems in general. Once I had gained some confidence it wasn’t long before I started getting hands on with the job and start test driving and communicating with customers."
What is your favourite part of the job?
"Overall I enjoy every aspect of my job! It’s been a fantastic six months where I have learnt masses. It would be hard to nail down a favourite part of the job. However, I definitely feel as if I work for one of the most prestigious and iconic brands in the automotive industry. That being so, there is nothing better than demonstrating the product. Getting out on the road showing customers the advanced technology in our cars and generally what a fantastic car they are to drive. Autonomous driving in the new E-Class has to be a favourite of mine to demonstrate to customers."
William has received a lot of praise from his colleagues at Mercedes-Benz of Plymouth and we wish him every success in his future career with us.
