Service B

A year after your initial Mercedes-Benz service (or when the vehicle has reached 20,000 miles) it’s eligible for a more comprehensive inspection; Service B. This can be done at any Mercedes-Benz Retailer and is completed by our Mercedes-Benz trained technicians. There are many benefits of having your car serviced by our Mercedes-Benz Retailers.

Pre-service check – We’ll carry out a pre-service check to diagnose any problems you may have noticed.

Mercedes-Benz trained technicians – Our technicians have an extensive knowledge of Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the most up-to-date training.

Free service measure updates – We’ll know about any updates to your car and implement them free of charge.

Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts - We only use Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts to ensure perfect fit and peace of mind. Each GenuinePart comes with a two year European-wide warranty.

Complimentary Roadside Assistance – In the unlikely event of your Mercedes-Benz breaking down we’ll provide assistance to cover you.

Up-to-date Mercedes-Benz service record – You’ll maintain your Mercedes-Benz service record by having your service done with us, this could improve the value of your car.

Mercedes-Benz Car Clean – We’ll thoroughly clean your car both inside and out so it will be in immaculate condition when you collect it.

Service B includes:


  • Function check
  • Check warning and indicator lamps, illumination and interior lighting
  • Check windshield wiper, windshield washer system and headlamp cleaning system
  • Reset maintenance service counter in instrument cluster
  • Replace dust filter (not applicable to SL-Class)
  • Replace combination filter (SL-Class)
  • Check parking brake (function test only)

Wheels, Brakes

  • Check condition/thickness of front and rear brake discs
  • Check front and rear brake pads for lining thickness
  • Check tyres for damage, condition
  • Measure tread depth, record in mm
  • Correct tyre inflation level

Underside of vehicle

  • Check for major components leakage
  • Check for chafe marks, line routing, damaged components
  • Check condition of front axle ball joints and rubber boots
  • Check condition of mechanical steering components and rubber boots

Engine Compartment

  • Check for major components leakage
  • Check for chafe marks, line routing, damaged components
  • Check and replenish all fluid levels
  • Change engine oil and filter
  • Check engine cooling system, antifreeze and corrosion protection
  • Check brake system
  • Check power steering
  • Check Active Body Control
  • Check windshield washer system
  • Check and correct battery fluid level
  • Check battery condition
  • Check catch, safety catch and hinges on engine hood for proper operation
  • Check condition of poly v-belt


  • Check battery condition
  • Correct tyre inflation pressure in spare tyre

This comprehensive inspection can be carried out at our Exeter dealership; there are four options to choose from:

  • Drop your keys to us between 8-10am and it will be ready to collect by 4.30pm with our Drop & Go service.
  • Our Lounge option gives you a specific service time and while we work on your car you can relax in our lounge with complimentary refreshments, TV and Free WIFI.
  • Our Drive option provides you with a courtesy car to keep you mobile while your service is underway.
  • The Collect service collects the car from a destination of your choice and drops it back before six.
